문화체육관광부 국민이 주인인 나라, 함께 행복한 대한민국

부산 해운대에 위치한 맥화랑은 6월 6일부터 7월 4일까지 《자라남에 기대어》라는 제목으로 김서울, 김효은, 박지혜, 임승현 네 작가들의 작품을 선보입니다.

‘자라남’은 고정된 결과가 아니라, 끊임없이 자신을 갱신하고 변화해가는 과정입니다. 그것은 안정된 형상으로 수렴되기 이전의 상태이며, 시간과 관계, 주변 세계와의 접촉 속에서 지속적으로 형성됩니다. 전시명에서 ‘기댄다’는 것은 단단하고 완결된 대상에 의지하는 행위가 아니라, 오히려 아직 생성 중인 흐름 속에 자신을 위치시키는 감각에 가깝습니다. 차이와 반복, 관계와 접촉 속에서 끊임없이 확장되는 열린 움직임으로 이해됩니다.

전시에 참여한 네 작가는 이러한 자라남의 서로 다른 양상을 각자의 방식으로 드러냅니다. 투명한 아크릴판 위에 중첩된 식물 이미지(김서울), 판화적 형식과 노스탤지어적 감각을 통해 구축된 풍경(김효은), 순례적 서사를 품은 회화(임승현), 그리고 실로 수놓인 유아와 동물의 장면들(박지혜)은 모두 돌봄과 기억, 노동과 공존의 감각 속에서 천천히 형성되는 생장의 시간을 보여줍니다. 《자라남에 기대어》는 완결된 의미나 고정된 형상을 제시하기보다, 아직 형성 중인 상태에 머무르며 우리가 시간과 타자, 세계와의 관계 속에서 어떻게 끊임없이 되어가는 존재인지 조용히 응시합니다.

“Becoming” is not a fixed result, but an ongoing process of renewal and transformation. Before settling into a stable form, it remains in a state of continual formation — shaped through time, relationships, and encounters with the surrounding world. In this exhibition, leaning does not imply reliance on something solid or complete; rather, it suggests positioning oneself within the unstable yet generative flow of becoming itself. Growth here is understood not as linear progress, but as an open and relational movement that unfolds through repetition, difference, and connection.

The four participating artists each reveal different dimensions of this becoming. Through layered botanical images on transparent acrylic panels, nostalgic landscapes built through printmaking, paintings infused with pilgrimage-like narratives, and tender scenes of children and animals embroidered with thread, the exhibition explores growth as something shaped slowly through care, memory, labor, and coexistence. Rather than presenting fixed meanings or completed forms, Leaning on Becoming invites viewers to dwell within processes still in formation — to sense how we continuously become through our relationships with others, with time, and with the world around us.
