The Third Edition “Age of Light” Unveils to the Public

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) and the Korean Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun Rae, KOCCA) unveiled the third edition of the “Age of Light” (Gwanghwa Sidae) to the public on February 4. The newly opened ‘Gwanghwa Jeoncha’, ‘Gwanghwa Su’, ‘Gwanghwa Dam’, ‘Gwanghwa Gyeong’. MCST and KOCCA planned the project to raise awareness on the immersive contents with using the state-of-the-art technology and promote the well-developed Korea’s technology and culture. The Gwanghwamun and the neighboring area are the center, where realistic technologies such augmented reality (AR), artificial intelligence (AI), and mixed reality (MR) and 5G mobile communication-based contents are implemented. People can experience the past, present, and future of Korea along with the latest technology. As a large-scale cultural experience space, Gwanghwamun will be closer to visitors.

Korean Cultural Centers greet and celebrate Lunar New Year

The Korean Culture and Information Service (Director PARK Myung-soon, KOCIS) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) will celebrate the Lunar New Year holiday, along with locals by making rice cake soups, and wearing Seolbim (new clothes prepared for Lunar New Year Day) and learning Sebae (act of kneeling on the ground and bowing to wish happy new year to the elders). KOCIS announced that they would share the warmth and joy of Lunar New Year' by holding events where people can experience various Korean New Year's cultures, including traditional games. This Lunar New Year celebration will be commemorated in 21 Korean overseas Cultural Centers (KCC) and 20 countries of the world.

‘Gwanghwawon’ and ‘Gwanghwain’ Unveils to the Public

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) and the Korean Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun Rae, KOCCA) unveiled the second edition of the “Age of Light” (Gwanghwa Sidae) to the public on January 14. The newly opened ‘Gwanghwawon (Media art)’ and ‘Gwanghwain (AI information center)’ welcomes the viewers with a various immersive contents and experiences. MCST and KOCCA planned the project to raise awareness on the immersive contents with using the state-of-the-art technology and promote the well-developed Korea’s technology and culture.

Culture Minister HWANG briefs on contents industry

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) held “2022 Policy Briefing on Korea Contents” at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea on January 11 to discuss on the overseas expansion of K-contents business, nurturing immersive contents and broadcasting and media contents, preparation of the system to respond against the intellectual property violations of the Korean contents as the Korean contents continue to spread as the Korean Wave.

The 2022 Korea Grand Sale opens on January 13

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) together with the Visit Korea Committee (Chairman YUN Youngho, VKC) will hold the “2022 Korea Grand Sale” for 47 days from January 13 to February 28. The Korea Grand Sale, started from 2011, is one of Korea’s best and largest shopping, culture and tourism festivals for international visitors that combine tourism with Hallyu (Korean wave).
