Strengthening International Solidarity for the Advancement of Paralympic Sports

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST) hosted a welcome banquet for members of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) Executive Board on September 22 (Monday) at Samcheonggak (Seoul), to share Korea’s policy direction for parasports and reaffirm the international commitment to cooperate for the advancement of parasports. More than 20 members of the IPC Executive Board, including President Andrew Parsons and Vice President Duane Kale, attended the banquet while in Seoul for the 2025 IPC General Assembly.

Reinterpreting the Sound of Korea through Instruments of the World

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST), in partnership with the Korea International Broadcasting Foundation (Arirang TV), has formed the traditional Korean music band Sound Trek, consisting of musicians who are foreign residents in Korea, with the aim of sharing the unique appeal of Korean traditional sounds with global audiences through a journey of learning and performing gugak (traditional Korean music). A five-part documentary capturing the band’s formation and musical journey is to be produced and released to viewers at home and abroad this October.

Gyeongju Celebrates APEC Summit with Seorabeol Pungnyu Performance Under a Millennium of Starlight

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST), in collaboration with the Korean Traditional Performing Arts Foundation (KoTPA), is showcasing a special traditional arts performance event “Soerabeol Pungnyu,” featuring a total of 37 stage performances, in celebration of the 2025 APEC Summit from September 12 to October 29 across Korea’s premier historic-cultural city Gyeongju, including Gyochon Traditional Village, Yukbuchon, and Cheomseongdae Observatory.

Supporting a Closer and More Accurate Understanding of Korea, Friends of Korea Begins its 19th Term

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST) will host the launching ceremony of the 19th term of the Friends of Korea on September 16 (Tuesday) at the KOCIS Center (10F, Korea Press Center). The ceremony will also be streamed live via Zoom for members based abroad and serve as a means to deepen participants’ understanding of the initiative while strengthening bonds among the group.

Global Literacy Leaders from Senegal, Ecuador, and Thailand Win the 2025 UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST) announced that the Directorate of Literacy and National Languages of Senegal, the Institute for Research, Education and Popular Promotion (INEPE) of Ecuador and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) of Thailand were named laureates of the 2025 UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize at a ceremony held on September 8 (local time) at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris to celebrate International Literacy Day.
