Foreign influencers and creators who have promoted the charms of South Korea to the world through Korean cultural content gather in Seoul for a grand celebration. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) and the Korean Culture and Information Service (Director KIM Jang Ho, KOCIS) in collaboration with the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (President JUNG Kil Hwa, KOFICE) will host the 2023 K-Wave Festival at the Daloreum Theater of the National Theater of Korea on November 4 (Sat). This event will be broadcast live worldwide through the Korea.net and K-Community Festival channel on YouTube.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister Yu In Chon, MCST) in collaboration with the Korea Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun Rae, KOCCA) will present “The Oulim” tech-integrated exhibition at London’s renowned Saatchi Gallery from October 28 (Sat) to November 5 (Sun). In celebration of the 140th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and the United Kingdom, MCST has curated this exhibition with the theme “Harmonious Connect.” It showcases a fusion of Korea’s advanced technology with artistic innovation. Furthermore, the event seeks to strengthen the international foothold of Korean companies through industry networking opportunities.

Turning Artistic Imagination into Reality at “Arts Korea Lab”

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) together with the Korea Art Management Service (President MOON Young Ho, KAMS) opened “Arts Korea Lab,” which supports all stages of artistic activities, in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, on Wednesday, October 25. The opening ceremony was attended by several representatives from domestic and international art organizations, including First MCST Vice Minister JEON Byeong Geuk and KAMS President MOON Young Ho, as well as representatives of businesses that will be occupying “Arts Korea Lab.”

Opening of the MODU Art Theater, Korea’s First Universal Theater for Artists with Disabilities

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) opened the MODU Art Theater on the afternoon of October 24 (Tue) in collaboration with the Korea Disability Arts & Culture Center (Director KIM Hyung Hee, KDAC). The primary objective of this theater is to provide the highest level of accessibility for cultural and artistic activities, catering to people with disabilities and allowing them to engage in creative expression and enjoyment. The opening ceremony was graced by approximately 150 individuals from the cultural and arts sector, including Minister YU In Chon; the head of the Federation of Disability Culture and Arts Associations of Korea (FDCA), BAE Eun Joo; and the renowned writer JUNG Eun Hye. Moreover, artists with disabilities and organizational leaders attended at this momentous event.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), in partnership with the Korea Creative Content Agency (CEO JO Hyun Rae, KOCCA) hosted the “2023 Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards”—the highest government accolade in the popular culture and arts sector—on October 21 (Sat) at the Haeoreum Grand Theater of the National Theater of Korea. The ceremony included celebratory performances and was livestreamed through KOCCA and the “THE K-POP” YouTube channel.
