The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) and the Korean Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun Rae, KOCCA) held the Opening Ceremony of the Gwanghwa Sidae (Age of Light) and unveiled the final version to the public on February 25 at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History in Gwanghwanum. “Gwanghwa Sidae” is the national project for continuing “cultivation of leading immersive content. ”

Korean Government supports Specialized Course for Creating Online Streaming Contents

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) together with the Korea Creative Content Agency (President JO Hyun-rae, KOCCA) support the operation of specialized training courses to educate experts in the field of online streaming contents (OTT) service. To meet this purpose, applicants from domestic graduate schools are invited to apply from February 17(Thu) to March 17 (Thu).

Despite COVID, 2022 Global Hallyu Survey tells Hallyu continued popularity

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (President JUNG Kilhwa, KOFICE) released “2022 Survey on Overseas Hallyu Status (As of 2021)” to overview the status of the Hallyu beyond Korea. This year’s survey was conducted online from November 5, 2021 to December 8, 2021 among 8,500 people from 18 different countries. Even during the pandemic, the result shows that more people enjoyed Hallyu. The figure shows that among cultural industry consumption, Hallyu (entertainment business) took on average 27.4%. Specifically, beauty industry took 31.7%, drama at 31%, and fashion at 29.2%. The result for the specific category was as follows: The most famous drama was “Squid Game” (21.2%), followed by “Crash Landing on You” (2.2%) and “Vincenzo” (1.9%). Among Korean singers, “BTS (26.7%)” and “Black Pink (10.4%)” took first and second places following last year.

Hanbok at Work and School

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister HWANG Hee, MCST) together with the Korea Craft & Design Foundation (President KIM Tae Hoon, KCDF) are staging a special exhibition on wearing Hanbok[1] (traditional Korean clothes, literally meaning “Korean clothing”) at work and at schools. The exhibition will be at the Culture Station Seoul 284[2] from February 9 (Wed) to 24 (Thur). This event will also provide customized consulting services to schools, companies, and organizations which plan to introduce wearing Hanbok at schools and at work.
