Year of Mutual Cultural Exchange between Korea and Kazakhstan starts with K-Pop concert

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), the Korean Cultural Center in Kazakhstan (Director LEE Hye-ran), and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (President JUNG Kilhwa, KOFICE) will hold “Hello! K-Pop Festa (Сәлем! K-POP Festa)” at the Central Concert Hall in NurSultan, the capital city of Kazakhstan on Saturday June 18 at 4 pm (local time, 7 pm Korean time). The K-Pop Festa (Сәлем! K-POP Festa) shows the start of 2022-2023 Korea-Kazakhstan Year of Mutual Cultural Exchange. With the start of this concert, the two countries will promote various cultural exchange events for the upcoming two years.

CRAVITY Became the 2022 Korean Culture Ambassador

The Korean Culture and Information Service (Director PARK Myeongsun, KOCIS) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) announced on June 15 that CRAVITY (K-Pop boy band of nine members) will be serving as the 2022 ambassador for Korean culture. The Korean culture ambassador will share the charm of Korean culture in the world. CRAVITY, known as the 4th generation idol group in Korea, made debut in 2020. The group has a fandom at home and abroad for its intensive and refreshing performance and they recently had a successful concert in the US. Busan Contents Market (BCM) 2022 Runs from June 8~10 with 400 companies from 43 countries

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) together with Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor PARK Heong-joon), and the Busan Contents Market Organizing Committee (Organizing Committee) will host the “ Busan Contents Market (BCM) 2022” from June 8 (Wed) both online and offline. This offline event will be held at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) from June 8 (Wed) to 10 (Fri), and the online event will be held from June 8 (Wed) to 24 (Fri) on the official website (www.ibcm. tv).

South Korea recorded 15th in WEF Travel & Tourism Development Index

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) announced that Korea ranked 15 out of 117 nations in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Travel and Tourism Development Index in 2021. This is the highest record South Korea ranked ever since the World Economic Forum published the travel and tourism index on a biennial basis since 2007. By country, Japan, the United States, Spain, France, and Germany took the top rank. In Asia, Korea ranked 4th place, followed by Japan, Singapore, China, and South Korea. South Korea ranked in 15th overall and has stepped up 4 stages from 19th in 2019, which is the largest increase among the top 30 countries.

Marking the 140th Anniversary of Korea-US Diplomatic Ties, Growing Even Closer through Cultural Exchanges

In celebration of 140 years of diplomatic ties between Korea and the US, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) will be hosting various culture festivals starting this May in three major US locations (Washington DC, New York (NY), and Los Angeles (LA)), in collaboration with the Korean Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE) and the Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS) with Korean Cultural Centers (KCC) in Washington DC, NYC, and LA.
