English Version of “Guide on Applicability of the Fair Use Doctrine to Training of Generative AI Models” Released

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will release and distribute worldwide the English version of the “Guide on Applicability of the Fair Use Doctrine to Training of Generative AI Models” on May 18. Originally published in Korean this February, the guide serves as a key reference providing criteria and considerations for determining whether fair use provision under Korea’s Copyright Act applies to generative AI training.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST) will hold the “Launch Ceremony of the 16th Class of Korea.net Honorary Reporters” on May 12 at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), Seoul. Members residing overseas will participate online. Composed of foreign nationals living in Korea and abroad, the Honorary Reporters serve as global promoters of Korean culture.

Building on the APEC Summit, PATA Annual Summit to Discuss the Future of Asia-Pacific Tourism

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST), together with Gyeongsangbuk-do Province, Gyeongju City, and Pohang City, will host the “PATA Annual Summit 2026 (PAS 2026)” from May 11 to 13 at the Gyeongju Hwabaek International Convention Center (HICO) and Lahan Hotel Pohang. Second Vice Minister KIM Dae-hyun of MCST will visit the summit venue to engage with participants on the future of Asia-Pacific tourism.

Foreign Content Creators “K-influencers” Launch Activities to Promote Korea

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has selected 1,152 individuals from 98 countries for the 7th K-influencer cohort to promote Korean culture worldwide through YouTube. The K-influencers will officially launch on May 7 with a ceremony at the Arirang International Broadcasting studio. Launched in 2020, the K-influencer program identifies foreign content creators with a favorable view of Korea and promotes Korean culture organically through the videos they produce.
