Bolstering “Second Middle East Boom” through K-Culture and Korean Language

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST), in partnership with the King Sejong Institute Foundation (President LEE Hai Young, KSIF) hosts the “2023 King Sejong Institute Workshop in the Middle East and Africa” from May 23 (Tue) to 25 (Thur). The workshop takes place in the House of Wisdom in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), a move that follows the launch of the “Second Middle East Boom Task Force” initiated by the MCST after President Yoon Suk Yeol’s visit to the UAE in January.

National Folk Museum of Korea and Korea Ssireum Association to Collaborate to Promote Ssireum

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) announced on May 17 (Wed) that the National Folk Museum of Korea and the Korea Ssireum Association have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote Ssireum[1]. Minister PARK, National Folk Museum Director KIM Jong Dae, and Korea Ssireum Association President HWANG Kyung Soo attended the signing ceremony.

Danginri Cultural-Creative Art Plant, emitting the dynamic energy of K-Culture, held its groundbreaking ceremony

On May 17 (Wed), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Danginri Cultural-Creative Art Plant. Breaking away from the typical framework of previous ceremonies, the event featured the architect (CEO JO Min Seok of Mass Studies), who designed the Danginri Cultural-Creative Art Plant, and young cultural artists as the main protagonists. For this unconventional concept, Minister PARK Bo Gyoon assisted by replying to the cultural artists’ vision of the Danginri Cultural-Creative Art Plant.

Encountering Original Cultural Heritage from the Baekje Kingdom at Incheon International Airport

On May 16 (Tue) the National Museum of Korea (Director General: Yoon Sung Yong) and the Buyeo National Museum (Director: Yun Hyeung-won) inaugurated a special exhibition entitled Masterpieces of the Baekje Kingdom: Tiles with Patterned Designs at South Korea's gateway to the world, the Airport Museum at Incheon International Airport. The exhibition runs until March 29 (Fri) 2024. It was organized to introduce and more widely promote these patterned tiles from the Baekje Kingdom that have been exhibited abroad the greatest number of times (22 times, 1960-2019) among all Korean cultural heritage items. They are truly prominent treasures representing the nation.
