MCST Gifts Foreign Tourists with Korean Names upon Arrival at Incheon Airport

Date Sep 22, 2023

Five hundred LOCA Mobility transportation cards, inscribed with Korean names, will be distributed from Sept 23 to 24

“My K-Name” event organized to commemorate “Visit Korea Year 2023–2024” and the upcoming “2023 Hangeul Week”

The Digital Media Communication Team of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) will present foreign tourists with their names written in Korean upon their arrival at Incheon International Airport from September 23 to 24. The “My K-Name” promotion will provide 500 LOCA Mobility transportation cards worth KRW 5,000 for free, at the transportation center lobby on the airport’s basement level.

Cards with local tourist attraction to be provided for free after completing a survey

In collaboration with LOCA Mobility Corporation (CEO SON Min Soo) and the Incheon International Airport Corporation (CEO LEE Hag Jae), under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), the MCST has organized this event to commemorate the “Visit Korea Year 2023–2024” and promote the upcoming “2023 Hangeul Week” (October 4 to 10) to foreign tourists. Foreign tourists can obtain a free transportation card featuring their name in Korean by participating in the “K-Tourism Preferences” survey at a designated kiosk in the airport’s transportation center lobby, right in front of the tourism information center. There are only 500 cards available for two days, so they may quickly run out. The card packaging also includes information about attractions that highlight the charm of K-culture, including Cheong Wa Dae (the Blue House), HiKR Ground, and VIVID SPACE.

MCST spokesperson KANG Jung-won stated, “Given the global popularity of Korean culture and Hangeul, we have incorporated the Korean language into transportation cards, which are essential for K-tourism, to boost the enjoyment of foreign tourists visiting Korea.” He emphasized, “The MCST spokesperson’s office is committed to further expand public–private collaborations in the future.”
