Second Vice Minister JANG Mi Ran visited the Jincheon National Training Center of Korean Sport and Olympic Committee ahead of the opening of the Hangzhou 2022 to encourage players and coaches

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) Second Vice Minister JANG Mi Ran visited the Jincheon National Training Center on August 16 (Wed) to encourage the national team who are dedicated to training for the opening (on September 23) of the “19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022” (Asian Games).

The Vice Minister first received a briefing on the athletes’ training. Having an experience in the training center as a national representative herself, she expressed her commitment to meticulously attend to the needs of the athletes from their perspective. She also emphasized transforming the Jincheon National Training Center into a world-class facility with the best training environment.

She then toured the training facilities and met with junior athletes who are dedicated to practicing despite the ongoing heatwave. The Vice Minister hoped for their excellent performance and particularly emphasized “safe competition without injuries” as the most important thing.

Second Vice Minister JANG expressed, “Every time there is a major competition, our sports heroes have brought emotional tears and hope filled with joy to our citizens.” She continued, “In this Asian Games, I hope that the sweat and effort of our national athletes and coaches lead to great results so that our citizens can show greater interest and support for Team Korea.”

The MCST announced a professional sports support policy in the “Korea Sports Vision Reports” last February to enhance the athletes’ performance. Based on this, there are plans to support sports science by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and the metaverse to establish world-class national athlete support capabilities.

The “19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022,” which was postponed last year because of the spread of COVID-19, will be held from September 23 (Sat) to October 8 (Sun) with 12,500 athletes from 45 countries, which is a record number of participants for an Asian Games. South Korea plans to dispatch about 1,140 athletes to compete in 39 sports.
