Online Korean Cultural Contents Go abroad through Online Responding to COVID 19

- Open public contest for Korean Culture Contents targeting artists·relevent agencies from May 25 to June 25 -

 

 

The Korean Culture and Information Service (Acting Director Yu Beong-chae, hereinafter KOCIS) of the Ministry of Culture Sports, and Tourism (Minister Park Yang-woo) launches a project ‘Stay Home & Enjoy Korean Culture’.

 

Expand the realm of cultural contents on a regular basis and provide opportunity to go abroad

 

The project aims to popularize Korean cultural contents including performances or exhibitions through online in a form of subscription, a new trend of comsuming contents. Under the pandemic, it became hard to enjoy cultural contents in person at the site, so, the project was designed to respond to this difficult situation. Through the project, participating artists and culture·art organizations would be provided the opportunity which can revitalize depressed atmosphere of the field.

 

Those who want to participate in the contest can find the letter of notification from May 25th to June 25th. Detail information is being uploaded at the website such as the KOCIS(www.kocis.go.kr) and the Arts Council Korea(www.arko.or.kr) and the Artnuri homepage(artnuri.or.kr or artnuri.kr).

 

The contents of contest will include ▲Online performance (provide vivid performance including traditional arts, dance and music using 360 degree camera to show even hidden part at the site.) ▲Collection of short contents (create one story,collecting footages from diverse fields) ▲Exhibition with explanation(explain ongoing or planned or self-holding exhibition such as arts or handicraft).

 

In particular, the KOCIS will provide mutilingual subtitles and explanations. The selected contents will be promoted through online channels including Koreanet(www.korea.net), a multilingual potal website run by the government, as well as website of the KOCIS and each Korean cultural center aboard and social media networks.

 

Deputy director Yoo Byeong-chae mentioned “It is expected 30 culture·art agencies and 900 artists would be able to receive supports regarding the scale of the project budget. I hope this would be a chance to revitalize the culture and art field which has been depressed due to the pandemic. The KOCIS will respond preemptively regarding the fast-changing environment of the field and enhance national reputation by amplifying Korean culture contents and introducing Korean culture to the world in a diverse way through the project”.
