The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST), together with the Korea Paralympic Committee (KPC), will hold the “2026 Summer Sports Camp for Promising Young Athletes” at the KPC Icheon Training Center from July 22 (Wednesday) to 28 (Tuesday). The camp is designed to help 35 promising young para athletes discover their aptitudes, develop the foundational skills required of athletes, and plan their future career paths.

Tailored Development Support, from Individual Sport Suitability Assessments to Mentoring by National Team Athletes and to Education and Career Guidance

The camp will offer participants opportunities to try a total of 14 sports, including athletics, badminton, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, table tennis, swimming, rowing, and archery. Participants will have the opportunity to experience a range of sports based on their individual disabilities and athletic abilities. Coaches with national team-level expertise in each sport will lead the programs, ensuring professional-level instruction.

During “Conversations with Mentors,” national team athletes who have represented Korea at the Paralympic Games and the Asian Para Games will speak openly with participants about life as an athlete and future career paths. These experienced athletes will help participants clarify their career goals and strengthen their motivation.

The camp will also offer programs on education and career planning. Participants will receive information on newly established middle and high schools specializing in sports education for students with disabilities, as well as on university admissions for student-athletes. In addition, a special lecture by parents of Paralympians will share practical experience and information on athlete development and career planning.
