- “2026 Global Korean Language Educators Integrated Training” held on July 13

- Forum for sharing field experiences and fostering cooperation expected to strengthen solidarity within the Korean language education community

Korean language educators from around the world, who connect people and nations by promoting the Korean language and culture, gathered in Seoul. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST), the Ministry of Education (Minister CHOI Kyo-jin, MOE), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minister CHO Hyun, MOFA), and the Overseas Koreans Agency (Commissioner KIM Kyung-hyup, OKA) held the “2026 Global Korean Language Educators Integrated Training” on July 13 (Monday) at COEX in Seoul, with approximately 550 Korean language educators from around the world in attendance.

Since the first joint training program for overseas Korean language educators was held in 2017, the relevant ministries—including the MCST, the MOE, and the MOFA—have continued to offer invitational training programs for Korean language educators under their respective mandates. This year, in particular, the ministries decided to hold an integrated training program for the first time in nine years to enhance the expertise of Korean language educators working abroad and to strengthen communication and cooperation among institutions. To this end, they coordinated their training schedules and jointly organized the opening ceremony and joint training program.

Relevant Institutions Jointly Hosted an Invitational Training Program for Overseas Korean Language Educators for the First Time in Nine Years, Fostering a Stronger Sense of Solidarity

Reuniting for the first time in nine years, Korean language educators shared a wide range of field experiences and best practices and built a stronger sense of solidarity as a global Korean language education community. Building on this training program, the relevant ministries also plan to further strengthen the foundation for Korean language education—by expanding King Sejong Institutes, promoting Korean language education at overseas primary and secondary schools, supporting Korean language courses abroad, and supporting education for next-generation overseas Koreans through Korean language schools—and to continue expanding opportunities for Korean language educators to meet, communicate, and exchange ideas in their respective regions, so that interagency collaboration translates into action on the ground.
