Korean Athletes Return Home in Triumph After Stellar Performance at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026

Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) CHAE Hwi-young will welcome the Korean national team returning from the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 at Incheon International Airport on February 24 (Tuesday). The welcome ceremony, organized by the MCST and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), will be attended by KSOC President RYU Seung-min, Chef de Mission LEE Soo-kyung, and athletes from short track speed skating, figure skating, and speed skating who are returning as part of the main delegation. Minister CHAE will present bouquets to the athletes, expressing appreciation and gratitude for their passion and determination during the Games. At the same time, Chef de Mission LEE Soo-kyung will report on the team’s overall results.
Extending Appreciation and Encouragement to All Athletes Who Demonstrated New Possibilities for Winter Sports
Minister CHAE stated, “Our 71 athletes competing across 6 sports delivered great inspiration and joy to the Korean people, going beyond wins and losses or the number of medals won. In particular, the harmony between the veterans and emerging athletes showcased new possibilities for Korean winter sports and set a new milestone, inspiring dreams and challenges for future generations.” He added, “I extend my deepest gratitude to all coaches and officials who worked tirelessly to ensure our athletes could safely complete the Games and return home. The MCST will continue to do its utmost to support athletes in training in better environments and standing proudly on the world stage.”
