The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) together with the Visit Korea Committee (VKC) host Korea Grand Sale-Summer Special for foreigners from Aug 10 (Wed) to 31 (Wed) to recover the Korean tourism industry. 

  Korea Grand Sale is Korea’s representative shopping and tourism festival in which private companies from various fields, such as aviation, accommodation, shopping, and entertainment, participate to promote foreign tourists’ visits during the off-season. In order to recover the tourism industry which affected by the Pandemic, this year's festival is held in connection with Seoul Festa 2022 (Aug 10 to 14), which is expected to attract more tourists. Also, temporary resumption of visa-free entry of three Asian countries (Japan, Taiwan, and Macao) for one month will also have positive effects in increasing the number of visitors to Korea.

  First, as the starting of the event, Incheon International Airport Corporation and Korea Airports Corporation will hold welcoming ceremony for visitors to Korea starting from Incheon Airport (Aug, 10) and Gimhae International Airport. Also, in order to spread the charm of Korea abroad and induce visitors to come to Korea, foreign influencers from various nationalities, including China, and Europe, and America, are invited to run promotional tour program from August 10 (Wed) to 12 (Fri).

In addition, this summer event provides various benefits so that foreigners can enjoy traveling, shopping and sightseeing in Korea.

  Seven domestic airlines, including Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and Jeju Air, offer up to 92% discount on air tickets from overseas to Korea and provide additional service benefits. Lotte Hotel and Shilla Stay prepared a comprehensive accommodation benefits exclusively for the Korea Grand Sale, including discounts of up to 72% for longer stays and free room upgrades. A discount coupon for the Korea Grand Sale is also provided through a global accommodation platform.

  Benefits for tourist can be found not only in Seoul, but also in other regions of the country. Domestic and foreign online platforms such as Klook, Creatrip, and Like a Local offer local individual tourism products and local experiencing programs in Busan, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Jeolla, Gyeongsang, and Jeju with benefits including up to 76% discount tickets.

  Korea Grand Sale's unique shopping benefits and tourism convenience have also been enhanced. Duty free shops, including Lotte Duty Free, and Shilla Duty Free, Hyundai Deaprtment Store Duty Free, and Shinsegae Duty Free, provide shopping subsidies and instant discount coupons for each purchase amount. Olive Young (Korean health and beauty product store) nationwide will provide exclusive ticket to be used on-site for the Korea Grand Sale based on each purchased amount. In addition to Seoul Myeongdong Special Tourist Zone, well-known summer vacation destinations such as Gangwon, Busan, and Jeju will provide benefits, including discounts at major restaurants and on direct train ticket to airport, currency exchanges, and telecommunication to add pleasure and convenience to tourists in Korea.
