K-Books Bridge Korean-Canadian Cultures in Canada

In celebration of the Korea-Canada Year of Cultural Exchanges 2024-2025, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST), in collaboration with the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea (Director KIM Jun Hee, KPIPA) and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (President PARK Chang Sik, KOFICE), will exhibit 98 Korean books and hold events with authors at the Montreal Book Fair (Le Salon du livre de Montréal), to be held from November 27 to December 1 in the Montreal Convention Center (Palais des congrès de Montréal) in Canada.

Korea’s Cultural Policy Directions to be Shared at the G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting

On November 8, First Vice Minister YONG Hoseong of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) will attend the G20 Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Salvador, Brazil and introduce Korea’s key cultural policy directions. In addition, he is set to hold bilateral meetings with leaders from some of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) members participating in the event and ask for support for a new high-level meeting in the field of culture, which will be launched at the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju. On November 6, the first vice minister signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for Korea-Brazil cultural cooperation with Brazil, holder of this year’s G20 Presidency, in Salvador.

Cultural Vibrancy Blossoms at “Local 100” Culture Factory of Cheongju, Cultural City of the Year

On November 1, Minister Yu In Chon of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) visited Cheongju City, designated Cultural City of the Year of 2024, as part of the 10th campaign of MCST’s Go Local to See Local 100! (“Go Local”) series. In addition to exploring the “Local 100” landmark Cheongju Culture Factory, the minister held discussions with regional representative art organizations for 2024. He also visited the site of the “Sea of Culture” Space Creation Project in Chungcheongbuk-do to inspect the project status.
