MCST to Celebrate King Sejong’s Birthday with Korean Language Events across the Country in May

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) will hold various Korean language–themed events throughout the country this May in collaboration with the National Institute of the Korean Language (NIKL), Korean Language and Culture Centers, and “Woorimal Gakkumi (Korean Language Keepers)” to celebrate King Sejong’s birthday (May 15).

Gamers Review Loot Box Information Disclosure Practices as Part of a “One-Day Monitoring Group”

On May 8, Minister YU In Chon of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) participated as a member of the one-day monitoring group focusing on probabilistic game items (also known as loot boxes) at Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC, Chairman KIM Kyu Chul) office in Seoul. He was joined by gamers, including former pro gamer HONG Jin Ho and pro gamer MOON Ho Jun.

MCST Promotes Cruise Tours to Captivate Cruise Enthusiasts Worldwide

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) plans to elevate global awareness of Korea’s global festival as the country’s flagship tourism product and engage in all-out efforts to discover local cruise-related tourism products. To promote the Incheon Pentaport Music Festival, the first of the “global festivals” scheduled this August, the Ministry hosted a promotional event at the Incheon Port Cruise Terminal on May 7. Domestic and overseas promotions were organized to promote the appeal of Korea’s representative global festivals, including showcases.

“2024 Korea Season” starts in France, a place for 2024 Olympics

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister YU In Chon, MCST) launches the “2024 Korea Season” from May for six months across France, including Paris where the “2024 Paris Summer Olympics” is being held, as well as in other cities such as Avignon, Aurillac, and Nantes, to showcase Korean culture intensively. Minister YU In Chon visited Paris on May 2 to celebrate the opening of the “Korea Season” and attended a joint Korea–France performance along with key French figures, including former Minister of Culture Jacques Lang (1981–1984, 1984–1986).

Explore the Significance of Security and Freedom: DMZ Opens 10 Thematic Trails

Starting May 13 (Mon), the government will open the “DMZ Peace Trail,” featuring 10 thematic routes through the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), allowing participants to directly experience the ecological, cultural, and historical resources unique to the DMZ areas and learn about the importance of security and freedom. Those interested can apply online starting April 30 (Tues) via the DMZ Peace Trail website (www.dmzwalk.com) and the walking tour mobile application “Durunubi.”
