- Launch of the “2026 Kore·A·Round Culture” program to support collaborative works by 9 Korean organizations—including the Nam June Paik Art Center and Sejong Center for the Performing Arts—and partners from 7 countries, including Canada, France, and Brazil

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister CHAE Hwi-young, MCST), together with the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange (KOFICE), will support bilateral cultural exchange between nine Korean arts and cultural organizations and nine organizations from seven countries, including France, Canada, and Brazil, through the “2026 Kore·A·Round Culture” program.

“Kore·A·Round Culture” is the brand name of the MCST’s bilateral international cultural collaboration initiative, launched in 2023. Through an open call, the program selects collaborative works by Korean and international organizations in fields such as theater, dance, and exhibitions. Korean organizations will present their collaborative works overseas, while international partners will present theirs in Korea. The initiative aims to promote international cultural exchange and lay the groundwork for Korean arts and cultural organizations to expand globally.

In the open call held this past January, 167 Korean organizations applied, reflecting strong demand. Following a review process, nine Korean organizations and nine organizations from seven countries were selected. Key Korean participants include the Nam June Paik Art Center and Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, while international partners include the Musée national des arts asiatiques-Guimet in France, ELEKTRA Festival in Canada, and the Pinacoteca de São Paulo in Brazil.

Audiences in Korea and abroad will be able to experience collaborative works across a wide range of fields, including sound art, contemporary art, dance, and theater. The program will begin in June with a joint performance by WeSA, a Korean sound art festival organizer, and Canada’s ELEKTRA Festival. This will be followed by a collaborative performance and installation art exhibition by Sejong Center for the Performing Arts and the Musée national des arts asiatiques-Guimet in July, and a jointly curated exhibition by the Nam June Paik Art Center and the Pinacoteca de São Paulo in November.
