The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST, Minister CHAE Hwi-young) conducted four policy briefings for a total of 59 affiliated, public, and major related organizations from January 13 (Tuesday) to January 16 (Friday). These briefings were designed to ensure the swift implementation of follow-up measures outlined during the Presidential briefing on December 16 and to assess each organization’s capacity to address field issues in a timely manner. A key focus was verifying whether organizations were moving beyond traditional, habitual work practices to produce tangible outcomes that the public can genuinely feel and fulfill their core missions.
The first briefing began on January 13 at the Content Korea Lab (CKL) Business Center and was livestreamed via KTV and YouTube channels. The first briefing was divided into three sessions based on the three policy pillars emphasized by the MCST in the Presidential briefing: building the foundation for a cultural powerhouse, fostering the “K-Culture” industry, and revitalizing tourism and sports. A total of 18 organizations, including the Arts Council Korea (ARKO), the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), the Korea Tourism Organization, and the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC), participated and presented their key initiatives for 2026. Through subsequent discussions, the preparation status of individual projects was reviewed from the public’s perspective.
On January 14, the second policy briefing at the CKL was attended by 24 organizations, including the Seoul Arts Center, Gugak Broadcasting System, the Game Rating and Administration Committee, the Korea Press Foundation, Grand Korea Leisure, the Korea Sport Ethics Center, and the Taekwondo Promotion Foundation. The third policy briefing, held at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Seoul, on January 16, was attended by 15 organizations, including the Korea National University of Arts, the National Gugak Center, the National Theater of Korea, and the National Asian Culture Center (ACC). The fourth briefing, held on the same day, was attended by representatives from the Korea Heritage Service and the Korea Heritage Agency. The MCST recorded all briefings from the second to fourth sessions and release them through the MCST website and social media platforms.
Minister CHAE stated, “Achieving our ambitious national goals, such as building a KRW 300 trillion “K-Culture” economy and attracting 30 million foreign tourists, is impossible if we cling to old ways of doing things.” He added, “Through all briefings, we will thoroughly examine how swiftly each organization is responding to the demands of the field and the public.”
