Exploring Strategies for the Tourism Industry against Climate Change, together with the UNEP

Date Nov 11, 2022

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (Minister PARK Bo Gyoon, MCST) is to hold the 2022 Global Sustainable Tourism Forum on November 10 (Thur) at the grand ballroom of the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square in Seoul together with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to discuss on future tourism strategies and international cooperation tackling the climate change.

The forum is part of the sustainable tourism initiative, one of the five key projects from the MOU between the MCST and the UNEP that have been underway since 2013.

The forum, where representatives from 20 major UNEP member states and the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will be present, is expected to serve as a platform for discussion on sharing and spreading actual cases of responsible production and consumption by entities within tourism-related industries. Topics include sustainable tourism and sustainable development through technical innovation that expedites the transition to green tourism in addition to best practices (by Korea and other nations) of countering climate change.

The forum is open to all and can be attended by registering at the website (www.GSTF.kr) in advance or at the forum venue.
