Leveraging the global attention surrounding the Olympic Games, the Korea House is intended to serve as a strategic hub for K-Sports and K-Culture diplomacy, jointly promoted by the public and private sectors.

The Korea House will be established at Villa Necchi Campiglio, a historic architectural and cultural landmark located in central Milan. Designed in the 1930s, Villa Necchi Campiglio is a renowned example of modernist architecture and a museum that has gained international recognition as a filming location for major productions, including House of Gucci.

The mansion will be used as a venue for high-level diplomatic meetings and official receptions related to sports diplomacy, while the outdoor tennis court will serve as a space for promoting K-Culture and K-Tourism. The basement level will be utilized as a lounge area for Korean national team athletes.

A Hub for High-Level Sports Diplomacy and Athlete Support

The opening ceremony of the Korea House will take place on February 5, attended by MCST Minister CHAE Hwi-young, KSOC President RYU Seung-min. Amid the growing global popularity of K-Culture, there has been a surge of interest from senior officials in international sports, including members of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and presidents of National Olympic Committees (NOCs) from around the world.

On February 17, designated as “Korea Day,” visitors will be invited to experience Korean Lunar New Year traditions, including New Year’s greetings (sebae) and traditional games such as yutnori, ttakji, and other folk activities.

A wide range of programs will also be offered to support Team Korea, the protagonists of the Olympic stage. The Team Korea Promotion Zone will feature an exhibition of the official national team uniforms, photo zones, and group cheering events for major competitions. On February 22, the Korean National Team Closing Ceremony will honor the athletes’ dedication and achievements throughout the Games, celebrating their efforts together with official partners and sponsors.

Showcasing Korean Culture: From Everyday Life to Hanbok, MU:DS, and Traditional Games

The Korea House will also introduce a diverse array of Korean cultural experiences to visitors from around the world. The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) will present tourism content under the theme “A Journey to Korea Beginning in Milan,” highlighting everyday Korean lifestyles as inbound tourism experiences.

Programs will include K-pop-inspired makeup and hairstyling experiences, immersive exhibitions featuring the scents of Gangneung coffee and the Jeju sea, and interactive K-pop classes, offering visitors a rich and engaging cultural program.

The MU:DS brand by the National Museum of Korea Foundation, which has gained popularity through frequent sell-outs, will also be showcased in Milan, the global capital of design. A total of 96 cultural heritage–inspired products, reinterpreted under five themes—Meditation, Celadon, White Porcelain, Mother-of-Pearl Inlay, and K-Pop Demon Hunters—will be exhibited. In addition, 19 best-selling items, including Bangasayusang miniatures, celadon pouches and key rings, magpie-and-tiger badges, and Irworobongdo pouches, will be available for purchase.

The Korea Craft & Design Foundation will present a hanbok fashion show titled “A Winter Banquet in the Snow: Hanbok in Bloom Beneath Snowflakes” at the opening ceremony, showcasing the elegance of winter hanbok. Visitors will also have the opportunity to try on traditional winter hanbok garments such as durumagi, along with accessories including gat, jokduri, and bolkki, and take commemorative photos.
