This symbol represents the succession and development of Korea’s traditional culture, which is preserved and safeguarded by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the leading builder of ‘Creative Korea’ and creator of ‘Spiritual Culture,’ and the acceptance of foreign culture for the active maturation and modernization of the traditional Korean culture. This symbol is made up of three water drops that resemble smearing drops of ink. The smearing drops imply the spreading and assimilating character of culture and the expansion of the essence for ‘value creation.’ The three dots symbolize the harmony and active exchanging of values among diverse cultures. Blue and red are the two major poles of culture and symbolize reasonable and emotional values. Gray is the process of assimilating conflicting cultures and value to create new culture. The dominating red shows that creative passion and living sensibility lead the life of culture. This symbol conveys the cultural life that liberally and joyously pursues new values and repeats the process of spreading and assimilation. The smearing colors symbolize Korea’s cultural tradition and Eastern values and express our wills to establish Korea the cultural hub of the world.
